Navy uniform from World War II

Navy uniform from World War II . Proudly worn by Sam C. Powell.
This box also contains : Navy discharge papers, draft notice, military ID, dog tags and other memories of his time in the war.

Naval tradition has handed down the ritual of making and giving a shadowbox to a sailor or officer who is retiring or leaving a ship. According to legend it is bad luck for a sailor's shadow to touch land before his body does. The other sailors would create a shadowbox for the departing sailor, where they might put souvenirs, a flag, medals travel memorabilia, and other items to remind the sailor of his beloved ship and shipmates. The shadowbox would contain the sailor's "shadow" until he was safely ashore. Today, the other military branches often give shadowboxes to departing soldiers or officers, as well.

This is one of our favorite box designs. In this box are the memories of Sergeant Jenny's time as a Army Recruiter in World War II . This Time Frame is about 48" tall by 32" wide. The mat was wrapped in an army green fabric with rich wood fillets.

The frame is a walnut rope design. When Sergeant jenny came in to see her box when completed she "SALUTED" us. It brought tears to her eyes as well as ours!

We are proud to carry Bee Hive Candles,  Beeswax candles. made by honeybees. Each hypo-allergenic beeswax candle is hand crafted using a lead-free cotton wick and lightly filtered 100% beeswax from the USA. Available in natural and 9 other vivid colors

Beeswax is very different:  all natural, non-toxic, non-polluting, non-allergenic, and with a delicious honey-sweet aroma.  A perfect, renewable resource, beeswax is made by the female worker bee for honeycomb, which safely contains their honey and the Queen’s baby bees. To produce one pound of beeswax, the worker bees eat about ten pounds of honey (yum), fly 150,000 miles, and visit 33 million flower blossoms!  Beeswax is precious stuff.

Pure beeswax is healthy.  Beeswax produces negative ions that actually clean your air of odors, pollens, smoke, dust, dust mites, viruses and other allergens and hazards – the only known fuel to do so.  As does a rainstorm, beeswax candles leave your air fresher and cleaner - they are a true air purifier.  They are the only candle for anyone with chemical sensitivities or allergies.

Different types of candles are designed for different purposes, and it's worth considering your needs and habits before purchasing.

The General Rule: a candle should be burned long enough each time it is lit that the wax pool melts to near the candle's edge.

As a guide: If you burn a candle... choose a beeswax... less than 1 hour
taper 1-2 hours
taper, tea light, votive 2-3 hours
taper, tea light, votive, 2" pillar more than 3 hours
taper, tea light, votive, 2" - 3" pillar or multi-wick pillar such as our P6-6

Great Blue Heron

We use this majestic bird for our logo. We see them all around Montana rivers and streams.>

Great blue herons are the largest herons in North America. They stand approximately 60 cm tall and are 97 to 137 cm long. They weigh 2.1 to 2.5 kg. They have long, rounded wings, long bills that taper to a point at the end, and short tails. They also have very long necks and legs. The bills are a yellowish color and the legs are green. Great blue herons have gray upper bodies, and their necks are streaked with white, black and rust-brown. They have grey feathers on the back of their necks with chestnut colored feathers on their thighs. The males have a puffy plume of feathers behind their heads and also tend to be slightly larger than females.
